 Get regular conflicts with Herbert, Horace etc. We want mslice to be
 independent of all ISIS applications, and not to interfere with ISIS
 applications. For reasons of maintainability, we will want to have a
 subset of Herbert copied over to mslice when creating an installation kit,
 but these routines must be buried as private.
